Release Notes

Update June 20th

  • Removed "Draw Markers" checkbox from main window because of redundancy/confusing. (Select all or no items from the Settings tab for the same effect.)
  • Fixed Marker preferences not being saved.
  • It is now possible to render more than one map without having to restart the application.
  • World file will not be locked while the world is being rendered.
    • Note: The World Viewer might render an inaccurate map or even crash if Terraria decides to modify the World file during the process.
      • This is intended, as to avoid crashing Terraria. Having to generate a new map is better than possibly corrupting your save file.
  • Advanced tab is now the Settings tab.
    • This tab will be disabled while a world is being rendered.
  • Added the button to load world information directly (without having to render a map).
    • Although rendering a map will still load world information, since it comes at almost no cost.
    • Note: Adding the chest nodes is costly (depending on how many chests you have), UI might freeze temporarily.
  • World Information property grid no longer displays the description pane at the bottom (since there's nothing to show).
  • Selecting a World to map is easier, now all worlds in the folder used the last time will be shown in the combobox.
  • Map filename is suggested by the application automatically. Warning: This will overwrite previously generated maps.
  • Supports command line arguments for automated generation of maps on servers.
    • Use WorldViewerNogui.bat --help for more information.
    • Warning: The output file will overwrite any existing file with the same name.
    • To set up your render settings (Markers, Chest filters) run the GUI once and set your preferences there, then close the application. Maps generated via the command line will use the saved settings.
  • Fixed the exception new users were getting caused by empty preferences.
  • If the output file doesn't end in .png, a png extension will be forced.
  • Now the the world file is copied into a temporary directory so it's less likely Terraria will crash when a world is being rendered.
